This country finds any way it can to take a day off

We have all day tomorrow to celebrate the 4th of July

If I didn't know better I would swear this country just likes to loaf around on these meaningless 3 day holiday weekends

We have more important things to do than sitting around waiting for the week to begin...just another way we're programmed by the powers that be

Journeyman...are u serious?
First of all, we are celebrating our country's independence...that doesn't deserve a day?
This country likes to loaf around...Americans take less days off than other countries.

My friends in Mexico were stunned when I told them if a holiday comes on a weekend that we still get a workday off before or after it. There if Christmas happens on a Sunday tough shit, get back into work on Monday.

journey go work for 8 bucks an hour and then try to tell us that. i mean ever year you get the 4th off, it gives you a day off. the year it lands on the weekend should it mean you dont get that 4 day week like you are used to all those other years ?

Rob your right ..Actually I just prefer regular days though...I get bogged down with all these stoppages...I will take a regular weekday anyday, I guess people that get paid for being off its a good thing....

I guess every nut in the state will have two days instead of one to blow off a finger or two

Jman,
I agree wholeheartedly.

Half of these assclowns don't appreciate the "freedom" that "we" achieved during the revolution ...

just look how many of these idiots volunteer to forfeit their rights via the "PATRIOT ACT."

Pathetic.

Anybody here own a business?

I have 35 employees and I gave each and everyone the day off tomorrow with PAY.

Considering it is my busy time of year, I figure I let them re charge their batteries, enjoy a longer weekend and they will work that much harder for us when coming back.

Yeah it costs a TON, paying everyone the day and not bringing anything in but I like to think it is appreciated.

So I guess it depends on whether the glass is half full or half empty.

I believe giving more brings back more.

Happy 4th and 5th to everyone.

Tonight is a party night for many and people should be allowed to enjoy the evening and not have to fight the worry of work tomorrow with a hangover. As Spooky mentions, it is good for morale as well.

LOL, compared to most of the world the USA is a lightweight. Check out the holiday/vacation habits of most European countries. Those guys take full months off at a time every year.

Because RJ when the work rules are written anywhere certain holidays are built into it. If you tell people oh because the calendar happened to work against you this year then you are essentially breaking the spirit of the contract which says you get X days off for holidays. I don't see anything wrong with keeping the integrity of the numbers of holidays given each year. Are you saying people don't deserve the day off just because the calendar worked against them?
